Profile of Paolo Costa

Founding partner of Spindox, he has dealt with information technologies and new media for fifteen years. He currently works in advanced fields focusing on digital culture, social network analysis and the future of the Internet. He founded the cultural association Twitteratura, which promotes the use of Twitter as a reading tool through re-writing. He lectures at the Digital and Multimedia Communication Course of the University of Pavia. In the past he has worked as journalist, management consultant and trainer. In 1998 he created Mindthegap Management Technologies, one of the first Italian start-ups in the field of digital innovation. He is the author of a number of books and publications.

He has written on his blog:
“The speed at which new technologies evolve largely exceeds our symbolic processing, leading to continual tech-lag. Our perception of reality, after all, is altered: our actual, material and atomic reality corresponds to endless potential, virtual and augmented realities. Yet it is exactly these constraints that paradoxically represent our competitive advantage over technologies. Technology is by definition temporary and, therefore, obsolete. What survives amidst this obsolescence is the individual. A new individual that is able to explore a future unheard of and to select possibilities.”
