GIANNI SALVADORI

I was born in Pontassieve the 22nd June 1956 but I have always lived in Molino del Piano. I am married and have three children (Laura, Marco and Elisa).
In 1978 I started working for Cisl (Italian Confederation of Trade Unions) in the period of the Moro kidnapping. My first work experience was in the Cisl offices in Valdisieve, Scandicci and Sesto Fiorentino and then I moved to Filca (the Cisl construction workers union) in Florence, where in 1984 I became secretary.
In 1988 I was elected regional secretary of Filcra before I worked in the national secretariat of the construction union in 1989.
From 1992 I worked in the regional Cisl secretariat, where I was secretary of organisation.
The 4th January 2001 I was elected general secretary of the Regional Cisl Trade Union of Tuscany. My appointment was confirmed by unanimous vote by the Regional Cisl Congress in May 2001 and I stepped down from my role the 11th April 2005.
From 1985 to 1998 I was vice president of the Florence Construction Workers Social Security Fund and from 1990 to 1993 I held the same position at the Rome fund.
I have been involved in the Molino del Piano parish since my teenage years and as a young man I have shown great sensitivity for the activities carried out by the Catholic church in Tuscany.
My favourite sports are football and volleyball, sports I played during my teenage years.
I prefer classical music, in my free time I like taking long walks and I’m also not afraid to try out a bit of cooking.
