I am Associate Professor of Agri-food Law for the Jurisprudence degree course at the University of Pisa. I have taught food law in doctorate and masters courses and in European programmes. I have carried out consultancy work on legislation for the Region of Tuscany (legislation on conservation varieties and on projects for the coexistence of organic, conventional and GM agriculture) and for the Italian Ministry of Agriculture (medicinal plants) and I have collaborated with EGE (European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies to the European Commission) in the drafting of Opinion 24.
I am a member of CEDR (Comitee europeen de droit rural), of AIDA (Associazione italiana diritto alimentare), of UMAU (Unione mondiale agraristi universitari) and I am a member of the editorial committee of the oldest magazine in the sector (the agricultural law magazine, Agricoltura-Alimentazione-Ambiente), a magazine of international importance In ORAAL (Observatory on the rules for Agriculture and Food), I worked in partnership with the ITTIG institute of Florence, on a project for a food related law database. I participated in the drafting of the Food Plan of the Province of Pisa and I am a member of the Board of Food, my first experience in Italy of civic participation in local food politics. My publications, in journals and for Italian and foreign publishers, have addressed various issues of agricultural law and food law: among the latter, foods derived from GMOs, local produce, food safety rules, food law, the right of food consumers to education, and the relationship between food and health.
