Agostino Riitano
Rural Hub
Agostino is a Cultural Project Manager and expert on culture in southern Italy and in the Euro-Mediterranean region. He experiments with new urban regeneration models that value cultural heritage and runs social innovation projects and projects aiming to “creole-lise” expressive languages. In 2003 he founded the Officine Efesti, an association promoting contemporary art in the Euro-Med region and a centre for creative production. Since 2006 he has worked as an artistic director for the Eruzioni Festival, Barock, Festival delle Culture Giovani and Trasparenze Festival.
In 2010 he co-founded the C.Re.S.Co – Coordinamento delle Realtà della Scena Contemporanea at Bassano del Grappa.
Over the past three years he has been experimenting with a glocal approach to developing Mediterranean smart cities, collaborating with Altra Napoli Onlus on the social co-design project in the Rione Sanità district of Naples.
He is currently a project manager for Rural Hub, a project fostering rural change makers that promotes the union of technological and social innovation with the world of rural culture. Agostino is also general manager of Societing and is part of the artistic direction team for Matera2019, a project promoting the city for the European Capital of Culture.
