Simonetta Montemagni

Simonetta Montemagni, NRC Research Supervisor, is currently Director of the Antonio Zampolli Institute of Computational Linguistics (ICL-NRC, Pisa). In 1996 she was awarded a PhD from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UK) with a thesis on Computational Linguistics.

Her research areas come under various sectors of Computational Linguistics, with particular attention to automatic language processing and knowledge management and the repercussions of developed technologies in applicational scenarios, e.g. schools. The results of this research, carried out within the framework of several international, national and regional projects, are reported in more than 150 publications including monographs, articles and edited volumes.

Since 1990 she has taught at the various Università degli Studi in Perugia, Florence, Ferrara and Pisa. She has also taught on training seminars and at summer schools.
Among her national and international scientific roles, she is a member of Editorial Committees, Scientific Committees for national and international conferences in the sector, she reviews articles and was an expert assessor for international projects and the VQR [Quality of Research Evaluation] 2004-2010 at national level.
