Simone Sala works at the intersection between information and communication technologies and sustainable development, focusing particularly on agriculture, the environment and international security.
He is associate director of the SensemakingFellowship for the Network Science Research Centre at Swansea University. He has completed research terms at the Centre for International Conflict Resolution (CICR) at Columbia University and the NewMinE Lab at the University of Italian Speaking Switzerland. He completed his PhD, Master and undergraduate degree at the University of Milan (at the Faculty of Agriculture and the Department of Computer Science respectively) and continues to collaborate with the university to this day, working chiefly on applying technologies that help us adjust to climate change and on food security.
Simone has lent his expertise to NGOs (RAY Foundation, FPMCI) and the FAO in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and the Caribbean. He has also helped the Ministry of Foreign Affairs apply technologies managing water supply in the Middle East. He is the president of Habitat Seven Europe.
