Physician at the Neonatology Department of the University Hospital of Pisa and Head of the “Nina” Neonatal Training and Simulation Centre of the University Hospital of Pisa.

He is currently Contract Professor at Pisa University.
He worked at the Blood Transfusion Centre of Pisa (headed by Prof. P. V. Fosella) where in cooperation with the Transfusion Centre of Monza and the Institute of General Pathology of Trieste he cooperated in the development of platelet serology tests (1990).
He is the Scientific Coordinator of the “MEchatronic REspiratory System SImulator for Neonatal Applications (MERESSINA)” Project, financed by AGENAS, National Commission for Continuous Training – Ministry of Health, within the tender “Development and research on innovative methodologies in continuous training – year 2011” (Tender code: 4353869.
