Italy in a Day is the Italian edition, organised by Gabriele Salvatores, of a project by Ridley Scott: Italians were asked to submit videos taken by whatever means (video cameras, smartphones, photo cameras) during the 24 hours of 26 October 2013. The result was the first Italian experiment into collective fi lming, in which the narrative material (the images and thoughts) was supplied by anyone who wanted to do so with the arranging of the story being entrusted to someone who does it for a living. Rather than a social network this was a social movie made with passion, respect and a sense of responsibility, without sacrifi cing a “necessary glance” or the personal perspective on reality.
A double concert opens IF2014’s musical programme, expressing the auditory #materia-prima (or raw matter) through the voice and sampling of Mari Kvien Brunvoll, the piano of Franco D’Andrea, the
drum machines and live programming of DJ Rocca and the sax of Andrea Assayot. The fi rst project is a mix of jazz, electro pop and blues coloured by Nordic atmospheres; the second combines three absolute icons of the Italian music scene, exploiting the unpredictable energy of jazz and the emotional impact of the best electronics.
