In the future our houses will be populated by increasingly intelligent and interactive objects. We’ll be able to give orders to electronic appliances, lighting systems and utilities as well as be able to program and personalise them at a distance. They can, however, be “cracked”, the objective of viruses, spam and hackers on the hunt for users’ personal data. How serious is the risk? How can we protect ourselves?
