Carmelo De Maria is one of the founders of FabLab Pisa (www.fablabpisa.org).

He graduated in Biomedical Engineering from Pisa University, where he also obtained a PhD in Chemical and Materials Engineering. He currently works at the E. Piaggio Research Centre of Pisa University, where he studies the applications of Digital Fabrication within the context of tissue engineering, with the aim to recreate a living tissue from biocompatible cells and materials.
