Musician, author, teacher and sound designer, Sergio Messina was one of the pioneers of web radio in Italy, and before that of laptop music. He has had many musical collaborations and activities, in the realms of both pop and experimental music.
In 1993 he produced Curre Curre Guagliò, the 99 Posse’s first album. He was a guest at Documenta X at the Ars Electronica festival in Linz, Austria, and features in the Garzanti encyclopaedia of Radio. In 2000 he invented Realcore, a conference-show on amateur porn, which toured the world for the next 12 years. In 2009 he ran a course on the subject at SAIC in Chicago, USA. His first book, Real Sex: alternative porn is the new rock’n’roll (Tunué) came out in 2010. At present he teaches History of Pop Culture at the European Institute of Design in Milan, works for various reviews as an author and columnist and is preparing his second private show (April 2015).
