Flavia Piccoli Nardelli was born in Trento on 6th July 1946, lives in Rome and is married with two children.
She was made a deputy in March 2013, on the rolls of the PD in the Piemonte 2 electoral college, and is member of the VII Commission “Culture, Science and Education” of the Chamber of Deputies. A member of the executive committee of the Culture and Development Parliamentary Intergroup, which brings together 60 deputies from all alliances, to tackle the subject of culture for the development of the country.
She has a degree in Philosophy from Rome’s La Sapienza University, has taught at the Virgilio experimental secondary school and various other Roman schools, has been involved in the teaching of history with Prof. Gabriele De Rosa, with whom she collaborated on the Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura, as publishing officer of the review “Ricerche di Storia sociale e religiosa” [Research into social and religious History]. For many years she was the Secretary General of the Luigi Sturzo Institute, a moral body set up in 1951 under the name of the founder of the Partito Popolare Italiana, resigning following her election as a parliamentarian. At the Institute she managed and coordinated research projects and projects promoting cultural, archive and library assets in Italy and abroad. Member of the board of the Consorzio Baicr Sistema Cultura (Biblioteche Archivi Istituti Culturali Romani [Roman Libraries, Archives and Cultural Institutes]), formed by the Istituto Enciclopedia Italiana, Fondazione Istituto Gramsci, Fondazione Lelio e Lisli Basso-Issoco, Istituto Luigi Sturzo, and Italian Geographical Society, she has been involved in higher education and distance learning, taking part in methodological-educational planning of post-graduate training for the staff of the school and state bodies.
A member of the Management Committee of Aici (Associazione Istituti Culturali Italiani[Association of Italian Cultural Institutes]), she is taking care of projects on new models of management and consumption and on the economic transformations in progress in the cultural assets sector, investigating the legal, fiscal and operational aspects of cultural work.
Member of the board of the Fondazione Alcide De Gasperi in Trento and the Fondazione Della Rocca, member of the Group of 10 founded in 2000 by the Ambassador Cesidio Guazzaroni, she is on the editorial committee of “Civitas”, the historical research and political culture magazine founded by Filippo Meda in 1919.
