Donatella Della Ratta is manager of the international organisation Creative Commons for the Arab world. She is currently writing her PhD at the University of Copenhagen about the soap opera industry in Syria.

She writes the blog mediaoriente.com and has collaborated with il manifesto writing countless articles about the media in the Arab world. She won the Ilaria Alpi Award (2000) for the best television writer under 30.

She is the author of Media Oriente (Media in the Middle East) (Seam, 2000) and Al Jazeera (Bruno Mondadori, 2005).
