Giulio Rubino is one of the founders of the Investigative Reporting Project Italy (IRPI), the first investigative journalism centre in Italy.
Having attained a Master in journalism at “La Sapienza” University of Rome, he briefly worked at different press offices before deciding to devote himself to journalism full time. In 2007 he worked as a freelancer in Latin America, where he wrote articles and took photographs for various reports. He has written for newspapers and magazines including Terra, Il manifesto and Carta. In 2011 he co-directed, alongside Cecilia Anesi and the Belgium journalist Delphine Reuter, Toxic Europe, an investigative documentary that won the Best International Organised Crime Report 2011.
Giulio currently works full time for IRPI, collaborating with various international publications including The Guardian, Al Jazeera and Der Spiegel on international investigative projects. Recent projects include Mafia in Deutschland, a report on mafia infiltration in Germany, and a collaboration with Presa Diretta to create the programme Sofisticazioni (with Raffaella Pusceddu).
