Michele Barbera is a young entrepreneur who has been working in the ICT sector for more than 10 years.
In 2001 he set up Net7, of which he was CTO and R&D Director, organising various European projects on the adoption of semantic technologies in the Open Access scientific publishing sector and Digital Libraries, cultural assets and Digital Humanities.
In 2012 he founded SpazioDati, of which he is currently CEO. Making use of semantic technologies and Big Data, SpazioDati sets out to make it easier for developers and PMIs to access Open and proprietary data, bringing together data from thousands of different sources into a single “Knowledge Graph”.
Michele is one of the founders, and the vice chairman, of Linked Open Data Italia, a non-profit organisation that promotes the spread of Open Data and Linked Data technologies in Italy, and is the founder of the Italian hub and member of the internationalisation committee of the Dbpedia project.
