Having graduated in Arts on the 27th October 1967 under Natalino Sapegno and Alberto Asor Rosa at “La Sapienza” University of Rome, he taught Sociology of Art and Literature, Sociology of Knowledge and Sociology of Mass Communications at the “Federico II” University of Naples, Sociology of Mass Communications in the Sociology department and afterwards in the Science of Communications department at “La Sapienza” University of Rome (where he was also the dean between 2000 and 2002). In 2005 he moved to the IULM University of Milan where he was prorector, president of the degree course, dean and director of the doctorate in communications.He gives seminars and lessons at the Sorbonne in Paris and the ESC of San Paulo in Brazil. He plans and advises on national and international events, exhibitions, conferences and seminars. He edits various series about the culture and media industry, as well as the Italian magazine on mediology “Mediascapes”. He manages the blog La Grande Scimmia (www.albertoabruzzese.net). He has been published by Enciclopedia Italiana, Utet, Zanichelli, Einaudi, Laterza, Bompiani, Mondadori, Carocci, Costa&Nolan, Meltemi, Sossella, Liguori amongst others. His most recent work is: the new edition of Forme estetiche e società di massa by Marsilio; Il viaggio (in)finito (Università Bocconi Editore); and Il crepuscolo dei barbari (Bevivino).
